I couldn’t think of two better words to sum up my first week. The response from my “show me” video was more than I could have ever hoped for, and as for my comment about getting a double dose of luck, it couldn’t have been truer. It seems that I’m not the only one happy to for me to be working at Seasprite; I’d hardly had time to find the office before I was swapping wheels for wings.
I’ll confess to not being a sales man (hopefully the team at Seasprite don’t read this), all I can do is tell you what I feel about a board or sail and while I’ve been quite vocal on my love for the Freestyle Wave 96 and the Firestorm 111over the last couple of years I’ve yet to sail everything RRD, so when Roberto asked if I could join the team down in South Africa I jumped at the chance.
So here comes another excuse for a gallery without substance, the days at home were spent on the phone or chatting over a cup of tea, and I know you don’t want to see those pix. And if you’re expecting a stack of pictures from South Africa, well you’ll be disappointed as I’ve hardly been here long enough to get the camera out let alone get on the water.
While I can’t wait to get a sail in I’m bound to spend a fair amount of time behind the lens, after all “don’t forget your camera gear “ accompanied the invite. Funny thing is I nearly didn’t make it as apparently my passport is far to overused for the South African immigration. You’re supposed to have two clear pages available the customs to stamp you’re arrival and departure, that’s something you don’t want to hear at check in when your passport only has one… told you I was lucky, they’ve only just changed it to one, though I did have a few nervous moment at check-in while they went to find out.
