The first time I came to Tiree I left the island with a 4th place, 25 years on and I’m leaving with another forth, guess I’ve left it too late to start improving. Seriously, I had a great time both on and off the water; the banter level in Tiree tends to go off the scale, finally there’s something positive for being old, I’ve heard it all before.
On the water was a different matter, the masters fleet was the biggest its ever been, though I’m not sure if that’s proof we’re all getting too old or that age is just a state of mind. I guess the organisers and the wind thought they should be gentle with us as every time we took to the water the wind and waves dropped, obviously no one told the organisers that us oldies need strong winds to blow the cobwebs away.
Complain all I like you only had to look at the pros to see what can be done regardless of the conditions, if you’re had to impress, may I suggest to go to the next wave event in Cornwall, we have some seriously sailors living on our shores.
