It’s easy to spend a night or two in the van but to ensure I’ve got things right I figured a longer trip would be the better test, so I’m heading up to Tiree to see Harty and then staying on for the Tiree Waves Classics 25th anniversary. Ok, I’ll confess, this isn’t the first time I’ve lived out of the van in Tiree, the last time I did this it was for the inaugural Tiree wave event.
Ten hours behind the wheel put me outside the ferry port in Oban, though there was talk about it being to rough to run, well it did but not without getting washed be a few decent sized waves on the way.
5m was the order of the day followed by a full powered 4.7 session the following morning. After Harty’s dice with death it was good to catch a few waves with him, though I’ll confess it wasn’t until the third day I could bring myself to sit out a session and stand behind the lens.
Clinic over Pete was heading for home but not before taking the best of the conditions with him. First waves of the event were in the under a dizzily cloud that came so close we could hardly see who was out on the water. If the weather continues like this I’ll certainly know if the van has the long-term comforts of home.
