Speed Week 2010

19/10/2010

Well it’s the start of it at least. For what looked like a potential disaster the wind kicked in enough to start off the wind with some healthy results, really good news for the kids as they just have the weekend to post some results before heading back to school. That said I think we could all do with a lesson or to in motivation from them.

I’m amazed at just how keen they are, sure they get going in the slightest of wind but even when it dropped to nothing they’d still hang around the waters edge waiting for any chance of getting back out. Both days produced more wind than expected, sure its wasn’t record breaking conditions but there was enough for a couple of rounds before the wind politely dropped for the youth prize giving.

I’m not really sure what next week will bring as the forecast keeps changing every time I look but at least I don’t expect we’ll be sitting on the beach for long and it my computer screen can be believed next weekends BSA slalom weekend looks set to be a memory makers with gales predicted.

One thing I did learn this week is why SUPers have small girlfriends and it’s obvious if you get a lift in the van. The boards are so long they just about touch the screen, you’re left to squeeze your head between the board and the side door or sit with your chin berried into your chest. Think that’s enough from me, I’ll just leave you to your imagination when you see the pix.
