Wakeup Call

01/07/2010

Pointing the finger at our World Cup team would be too easy, though it did put a dampener on our WC barbeque; the truth is I had a wakeup call on my own. Blame it on the lack of wind or too many hours behind the desk but I was out on what has become an all to rare bike ride when I got over taken.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no biker which is why I always ride with a GPS / heart monitor to ensure I’m working hard enough. All seamed good with my usual average 140 bpm when a guy on a mountain bike came along side, obviously the natural competitive streak kicked in until we went different routes but the embarrassing side was I was riding a road bike.

Normally it’s a combination of a little gym work and sailing time that keeps it all together but with my concentration on the mag and the fact it takes me four times longer to write anything (can I blame that on my teachers again, or just confess to being thick). Actually its all an excuse, if we’d had wind the mag wouldn’t have stopped a minutes sailing in truth but somehow the endless driving, too many roadside meals and the lack have wind have caught up.

Wont say it hasn’t happened before so next time you see me give me a kick up the ass, don’t offer me that drink and lets go sailing, I hear the winds back for the weekend, at least that’ll give the kids a rest at the skate park.
