Sometimes I'm an Idiot

8/03/2010

Grabbing the doctor firmly by the hand wasn’t a gesture of thanks but a polite way to stop him inflicting any more pain, though he’d probably say that was down to my own actions than his. Having got infected it looks like a dog’s been having a go at it so much so the wife has banned me from putting it on the web.

I blame it on the photography. It was healing perfectly until I stepped closer to my subject; I’d bagged it and taped so well I couldn’t see anything going wrong, ok it sprung a leek but that was cheaper than spending a £1000 per day renting Windsurf’s photography tower.

Everyone uses it for freeand I can understand why I'd have to pay, to be honest that probably did me a favour. I used it in the past and without doubt it the easily the best spot to take your shot but maybe that’s the trouble, easy is just too predictable, so thanks for making me think.

Seems funny talking about pictures you can’t see but as with last week I need to keep them back, but a couple of shots have to be my best ones yet and then there’s a couple that look just impossible. What picture doesn’t take a walk through Photoshop these days, I’m sure there will be many who think two of them are the product of computer work, but just like the penguin shot at Jaywick last year its more about what I took away than added.

It’s obvious I can’t use them here until they’re printed but finding shots that don’t even hint at what is to come in the pages of Boards Magazine is almost harder, it means we just have to shoot for the sake of shooting. Being an insomniac I found we had plenty of time for the extra pictures and figured 7am was late enough for a lain, though I had to give the door an extra rattle after the bigger nights.

Ant Baker needed a heap of shots for his new website (coming next month I believe) windsurfing, Kitesurfing and fitness, but I think we got it covered. The real negative with all this standing around in water was my toe wasn’t getting worse but actually looked to be doing rather good. What do they say, “never judge a book by its cover”.

Even the doc said I could go out on the water with it taped up and in a wetsuit shoe, just don’t windsurf, easy I’ll kitesurf. He only wanted me to avoid pulling the stitches going in and out of the straps, at least it confirmed which prefer. Out on the point I just couldn’t resist, 6.0 and a 95l looked too appealing. What an idiot, now I can’t sail for another two weeks… will I ever learn…
