The Golden Ticket

When I joined Boards no one said that excluded me from winning the golden ticket. With flights to Maui for two, plus a Goya board and rig to take home makes it the biggest prize given away in windsurfing. Unbelievably it doesn’t just end there, not only do you get to sail in the next Windsurfing Movie II but back on the beach it’s your party everyone is turning up to.

Ten Boards subscribers were randomly picked and asked to compete for the Golden Ticket by submitting a video on mpora.com While a couple of the others made some entertaining videos it was the one featuring Francis Goodwin on mpora left no one in any doubt who the winner should be.

I dropped in to West wittering to catch-up with him and his family on Saturday, despite the lack of wind and freezing temperatures it turned out to be an interesting afternoon. Francis has raised a crazy bunch that appear to be up for anything and no sooner had the champagne cork popped it sounded like this was going to be more of a family trip.

Maui is my all time favourite place to windsurf and while speed commitments have kept me away for a few years I could hardly let this wild bunch on its shores without a personal guide, all I have to do is convince the wife it work, wish me luck.
