According to the met office it wasn’t officially a white Christmas, though it certainly feels like it with twenty-five of us round the table there was a white feel to festive season. We’re a big family and often catch myself saying “and were all within walking distance”, if only that was true, our cousins live across America and Canada so forgive me the first pictures but easier than email.
Now I’ve a warning and an apology. The last picture should be the opener as it was the start to this week and also the course for the lack lustre report last. I’ve had numerous operations but sat on my hospital bed with my laptop I couldn’t think what to write, so that brings me to the last picture.
The doc thought it a little strange when I handed him the camera, well haven’t you wondered what it looked like, well if you haven’t then just ignore the 28th picture as it’s my ear hanging off. A common case of surfers ear, or in this case, not so common but nothing an extra four hours drilling couldn’t sort out.
I’ll confess to being left a little jaded but what a great way to stop the excesses of Christmas hitting the waist line and just when I was getting the appetite back my big brother keeps me on the strait and narrow. Any one with a brother will see how it all went down but what was just a bit of leg pulling left us both feel a little sick. It’s not Robert’s fault after all he’s a lot older and amnesia has set in, he only forgot what the operation was for as he pulled my ear as only a brother would to get my attention.
If it wasn’t for his love of cooking I just might still be holding a grudge but with him in his Jamie Oliver Christmas outfit and twenty-five to feed all was forgiven. It was Boxing Day and my trip to the beach had broken me more than he ever could, I’m off the water for at least six weeks but I still can’t get the wind out of my system. The boy’s were good and didn’t call but I still can’t kick the morning habit, put kettle on, check windfinder and call to see who’s up for a sail.
The forecast was under performing so with the low temperatures they opted for kites, even then there were big holes in the sailing, at least it gave me a good reason to leave them to it.
