Supposedly we came down from the trees six million years ago, but that didn’t stop us getting back up them for my birthday. Turned out to be a funny old day... Ended up on the phone for most of it as news was breaking at Boards Magazine - though I shouldn’t have worried as the weekend brought back a touch of normality with a trip in to Kent.
The wind’s return couldn’t have been better timed for the Team 15 crew down at Hythe Sailing Club, race training on Saturday and putting that into practice on Sunday. While it’s always good to catch up with any of the T15 squads around the country, this lot have been showing a bit of girl power.
During a recent event only the girls could make it, not that that fazed them when they had to take on the boys. Breaking the stereotype mould the girls showed the boys the way for a first all-girl T15 win, luckily for the boys back at their club it was one for all and all for one.
That team feeling turned out to be the theme of the week as Monday brought news of change at Boards. It’s certainly not news that times have been tough over the last year - whatever business you’re in - and when I started at Boards I was more than aware of the situation.
Over the last months the Boards team have become exactly that, a team. While you can see the change in its pages, it’s that freedom to explore that has changed its fortune. As is so often the case its fate was already written and so without much surprise to me its owners decided to let it go.
By the time you read this the new owners may well have been announced, but while the Ts are crossed and the Is are dotted your Boards team continue unaffected and still as a team.
