I guess it was a little to much to expect our run of luck to continue without a break. I’ve managed to be in the windy part of the country for six weeks so when I saw the forecast for the Aberdovey weekend I shut the laptop and went anyway. It may have been a six hundred and fifty mile round trip without wind, but do you know what, it was worth it.
I couldn’t blame those who didn’t make the trip, though there were times when it started to look promising. The racing was just a run across the river and back, simple but amazing how much fun a sail could be, well I guess that’s windsurfing, it’s not just the act but the friends you make along the way.
That said I think Nik Baker wouldn’t have missed an hour or two on his own on Sunday. Barbeque night at the Dovey Sailing club is always a memorable one, but there has to be a sacrifice made to the wind gods, Nik, welcome to the world of the demo day. Lets put it this way, I can’t remember seeing Nik so relaxed, but then he wasn’t alone on that front.
Sunday continued where Saturday left off with blue sky’s and light winds. Though I’d rather have a stack of wind I can’t complain about the weather in general. I spent more weeks traveling in 2007 than I did in the uk, yet the tan I’ve got this year is not only all British, but the best one yet.
