For some strange reason I’ve had a few emails asking if going to the office will keep me off the water. Sure Boards have an office full of desks, but I’d rather meet with the team in my office, it may not have a desk but then the boardroom is where the real work is done, especially if this weeks weather continues all summer.
After last week I didn’t dare expect more of the same. OK, Clacton can’t compare with the waves of Rhosneigr, but add a few friends to a side shore wind and you won’t hear any complaints from me.
Actually it felt like I was in perfect sync with the wind this week. Duncan made it over for a sail on Tuesday, but Clacton kept working right into the evening for the first three days, but with wind predicted to die I headed down the south coast to catch up with a few people.
You could say life was simpler before the mobile phone, sure it meant I ended up visiting more people than planned and I would have made it home long before midnight, but then I’d have missed the call from Baker. It’s rare for me not to take the van loaded with kit, but I’ll always thou in a wetsuit and harness just encase, and this was the perfect example.
“Hay Whitey you up for a sail, I hear you’re down our way” The first of the summer sea breezes had kicked in and Worthing wasn’t far away. Should have had my camera’s with me, it would have been a good moment to get a few pictures for my beach articles.
If like me you live where it takes a special day to get a good sea breeze going, when the forecast says zero that’s what you get, where as the south coast just needs a blue sky to light things up. Obviously I’ve got no pictures to show the smiles, but don’t panic I wont inflict another thousand words on you, lets just leave a perfect evening sail like it was, perfect.
