Finally everything comes together, not that there was never two days alike. Windsurfing, photography, travel and kitesurfing, everything had its day but it was Saturday that had us holding on for all we could, the wind was back and wanted to leave its mark. It was survival conditions off Clacton beach on Saturday, only three of us made it out, two hours later the temperature had conspired against us.
With the winds howling bolt on shore the cold was killing our hands, even in gloves. Chippy Dave gave in first, but while the body was still warm you just need to be able to feel your hands at some point.
It’s been hard to get anyone to hang on the beach with the camera for the last few weeks, and with the rain driving into the lens I thought better and switched to my pocket camera for a couple of beach pix, not that they could do any justice to the day.
We couldn’t even get pix from the night before. We were out catching the warm-up to the storm on kites, but it came in so late it was almost dusk when we took to the water. By the time we hit the beach the sun had long gone, though it put on a show as it dropped to the water, but it tries that stunt most nights.
Well, that’s is until you want it. I had to go to London this week and with a forecast of clear sky’s I thought a decent sunset over the River Thames wouldn’t go a miss. Don’t think it could have been a lot darker; at least it gave me a chance to play with a slower the shutter speed, plus I’d already seen a couple of nice sunsets this week already.
After the alterations in the gym, thought it time to see if the change was worth it. Shaun in his wetsuit was my first test; you’ll see him spinning on the right, so I guess it worked out, next week I see if I can get the other idea sorted.
