Partial Eclipse

The Windsurf Academy couldn’t have kicked off any better, as our group came together from across the globe. Hong Kong, New Zealand and Woodbridge, OK, so not everyone had to travel so far, but the hunger for knowledge was just as strong. The forecast looked good for the week, plus there was talk of an eclipse of the sun, but how dark it should get seamed to be uncertain.

The wind kicks in around 10:30 which gave some time for some land based training tuition. Once on the water we headed out to baby bay with video in hand for the real stuff. There aren't many places in the world that offer a better training arena for perfecting the gybe, its also ideal for catching the action for the evening video review.

As usual forecasts can't be trusted, but that's not to say we didn't get any wind, actually we got plenty over the week but missed the big crescendo every forecast we could find was predicting.

That was also true of the eclipse, had we not been know it was happening we would have never had known. It was only visible by looking through the coloured monofilm of the sail, apparently the sky only gets darker when its over 90% coverage.
